Maria Grazia Chuiri the Artistic Director at Dior has taken cue from the throwback trend happening and has reimagined the Saddle bag first designed by the former artistic director John Galliano. Hence once again the bag has propelled into fame and become an “it”bag.

The classic “D” logo hangs from the bag which can be worn any way you like.

“I reconsidered it as an object capable of characterising the identity of those who wear it,” Maria explains of the design process. “The Saddle bag is an emotive object that becomes a symbol of individuality, capable of instantly communicating something of the personality of those who choose it.”

Released on July 19th, they had staged social media postings hence you would have probably seen it taking over you feed. Even if you only follow one fashion influencer, you likely would have seen it.

So what’s the enduring appeal about this bag? Is it the nostalgia that comes back, are we going back to the style of carrying our small purses under our arms again or maybe it’s just become an iconic piece. Who knows, maybe 18 years down the line, we see it popping up again but whatever happens it’s defiance of the time has signified it’s place as a classic.
